Seeds For the Planet (S.F.P)
Kibera slums has an overwhelming population and since the settlement is totally informal there has been no provision for appropriate dumpsite of provision of the most basic need such as water or electricity. There is thus a very great need to develop a structure through which garbage collection can and solid waste management can be effected. This is what brought me to think of ways through which we could be able to change our environment here. In collaboration of the local youths we organize cleanup events frequently and work with others too to sort solid wastes for recycling.
We also work hand in hand with youths from other parts of countryside to plant trees alongside subsisistence farming in the rural villages. Here we mainly concentrate on agro forestry trees that are fast growing and add nitrogen among other nutrients into the soil
This is just but an insight into our long-term plans and we hope it will come to be.
